RALEIGH -- For the second time in as many days, Speaker Thom Tillis' mouth has exposed his true desires for average North Carolinians. According to a report from the News & Observer, at a meeting with Congressman Paul Ryan (R-WI) this morning in Raleigh, Tillis was asked if Ryan's budget plan was comparable to what the Republicans are doing in North Carolina. Tillis answer: "Absolutely."
"Once again, Speaker Tillis let the truth slip," said Gerrick Brenner, Executive Director of Progress North Carolina. "He thumbed his nose at creating jobs in North Carolina and he apparently does not care about protecting seniors, students or the millions of taxpayers who are not corporate CEOs."
"The Ryan budget ends Medicare as we know it, doubles student loan rates and gives massive tax giveaways to the wealthy and Big Oil. The Tillis-Ryan meeting may have taken place in Raleigh, but their plan is a million miles away from the needs of middle class North Carolina."
Today's incident follows Tillis' remark yesterday that North Carolina should not have taken federal stimulus dollars which created or saved at least 25,000 jobs.
